The holidays and work (yes, I actually had to take time off to get some real
work done) got in the way over the last few weeks so the Nautilus Room had
to take a break. We're back at it now and you can see the progress.
The basic walls are now done and the real magic is beginning. We're starting to all all the cool stuff. This part could go on forever. In the first photo, my lovely wife is painting a ceiling tile with the base coat. Behind her, you can see the mahogony shelf that is taking shape. Next you can see some of the brass guages and copper piping in place. Next is a close up of another, large pipe with bronze fittings (everything is made of PVC and painted to look like rusty iron). Next is my favorite, the iron climbing rungs that lead to the hatch to nowhere. Whenever people come into the room now, the first thing they do is touch the rungs and think about climbing up. They are really disappointed when we tell them there's nothing up there. Actually, my office is right about this conference room, and I'm thinking of putting the other side of the hatch on the floor. There are several more shots of close-ups and overall shots of the details as we're completing them. That's about it for now. Next step is to complete some of the instrument clusters and and add a smoke machine to the wall vents. Fun Stuff! David LaBonte |
